Computer-Algebra mit MuPAD

Früher einmal war ich ja von MuPAD richtig begeistert (da war die Software auch noch frei wie Freibier), meine letzten Tests mit der Mac OS X Version 2.5 zeigten noch reichliche Schwächen im Benutzerinterface. Nun gibt es — wohl schon länger — eine Version 3.1.1 (Download 30 Tage Trial-Version) und ein Buch dazu: Getting Started with MuPAD. Aus der Verlagswerbung: »This book is a gentle introduction to MuPAD - a modern Computer Algebra System. The author introduces MuPAD step by step and shows how we can use it in various areas of mathematics. A large chapter of the book is devoted to the graphical visualization of mathematical concepts, and MuPAD graphics are also used extensively throughout the rest of the book.« Auch wenn die Lizenzkosten ziemlich happig sind (Euro 70 für Studenten, Euro 110 für Lehrer, Euro 310 für Uni-/FH-Angehörige und Euro 530 für sonstige private und kommerzielle Kunden), so daß man sich fragt, warum man nicht gleich auf den Platzhirschen Mathematica setzt, sollte ich MuPAD vielleicht mal wieder testen...
